India enjoyed a golden day at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as boxers Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria and Sakshi Chaudhary clinched gold medals to lead the country’s charge.

August 1, 2026: India produced its most spectacular performance yet at the 2026 Commonwealth Games on Day 10, with the women’s boxing team spearheading a remarkable gold rush that propelled the country further up the medals table. Six Indian women boxers were crowned Commonwealth champions, while athletics and judo added to an impressive haul, underlining India’s growing dominance across multiple disciplines.
The extraordinary performances took India’s medal tally to 34 medals, comprising 11 gold, 15 silver and eight bronze, with more finals still to come.
Women’s Boxing Delivers Six Gold Medals
Indian boxing scripted history as Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria, Sakshi Chaudhary, Priya Ghanghas, Arundhati Choudhary and Nupur Sheoran all climbed to the top of the podium.
Preeti Pawar kick-started the gold rush by producing a commanding performance in the women’s 54kg final, defeating her Canadian opponent with aggressive attacking combinations and disciplined defence.
She was followed by Jaismine Lamboria, who dominated her final to secure another gold, before Sakshi Chaudhary completed a memorable hat-trick of victories for India.
The celebrations continued when Priya Ghanghas captured the women’s 60kg title after a clinical display at Glasgow’s SEC Centre. Having negotiated tough quarterfinal and semifinal bouts, Priya entered the final full of confidence and dictated the contest with sharp combinations, excellent ring craft and solid defence to seal a convincing victory.
India’s golden evening became even brighter when Arundhati Choudhary clinched the 70kg title with a flawless 5-0 unanimous decision over Uzbekistan’s Aziza Zokirova. Arundhati dominated throughout the bout, leaving no doubt in the judges’ minds as she added another gold to India’s tally.
In the final boxing event of the day, Nupur Sheoran emerged champion in the 80+kg category after edging Uzbekistan’s Oltinoy Sotimboeva in a closely fought contest. Nupur won by a 3-2 split decision, completing an unforgettable six-gold sweep for Indian women’s boxing.
The stunning performances reaffirmed India’s emergence as one of the world’s leading boxing nations and highlighted the remarkable depth of talent in its women’s programme.

Athletics Adds to the Medal Rush
India also enjoyed another productive day on the track and field.
In the men’s F57 shot put, India secured a commanding one-two finish. Soman Rana won the gold medal with an impressive series of throws, while compatriot Shubham Juyal claimed silver.
The men’s triple jump produced another double podium finish, with Praveen Chithravel taking silver and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran securing bronze after a consistent performance.
Judo Brings More Success
Earlier in the day, judoka Unnati Sharma earned India another medal after defeating South Africa’s Skye Knoester by Ippon in the women’s 63kg bronze-medal contest.
Her victory added another podium finish to India’s impressive campaign and highlighted the country’s growing strength across combat sports.
India’s Medal Tally Swells
Following the latest victories, India’s medal tally has climbed to 32, comprising:
- Gold: 9
- Silver: 15
- Bronze: 8
- Total: 32
With several finals still remaining, particularly in boxing, India has the opportunity to further improve its tally before the Games conclude.
The performances on Day 10 have been among India’s best at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, reflecting the country’s growing depth across disciplines. While the boxers stole the spotlight with their four-gold sweep, the contributions from athletics and judo underscored India’s emergence as a formidable all-round sporting powerhouse on the Commonwealth stage.
