4 ISIS terrorists from Sri Lankan arrested at Ahmedabad airport
At Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Monday, four suspected ISIS terrorists, all of Sri Lankan nationality, were apprehended by Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorist Squad.
According to reports in the media, the four suspects have been transferred to an undisclosed place where they would be subjected to a rigorous interrogation process while security officials try to obtain additional information about their module and the reason for their arrival at the Ahmedabad airport.
The troops have increased security around Ahmedabad International Airport, which is humming with activity ahead of the arrival of three IPL teams for the 2024 playoffs.

The arrest of four accused ISIS militants comes two months after Assam Police apprehended India’s ISIS leader and a close comrade. Haris Farooqi and his companion Anurag Singh were apprehended in Assam’s Dhubri district after crossing into India from Bangladesh.
The two were taken to the Special Task Force (STF) office in Guwahati and then handed up to India’s anti-terrorism agency, the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
“The identity of both of them was ascertained, and it is found that accused Haris Farooqi alias Harish Ajmal Farukhi of Chakrata, Dehradun, is the head of ISIS in India. His associate Anurag Singh alias Rehan of Panipat got converted to Islam, while his wife is a Bangladeshi national,” the Assam Police CPRO said in a statement.

ISIS, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, is a militant extremist organization that adheres to the hardline Wahhabi doctrine of Sunni Islam. It became into a serious force in the early 2010s, receiving global attention for its ruthless methods and territorial aspirations.
ISIS terrorists have been involved in several significant terrorist incidents around the world, including the recent Moscow attack.
