4 ISIS terrorists from Sri Lankan arrested at Ahmedabad airport

At Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Monday, four suspected ISIS terrorists, all of Sri Lankan nationality, were apprehended by Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorist Squad.

According to reports in the media, the four suspects have been transferred to an undisclosed place where they would be subjected to a rigorous interrogation process while security officials try to obtain additional information about their module and the reason for their arrival at the Ahmedabad airport.

The troops have increased security around Ahmedabad International Airport, which is humming with activity ahead of the arrival of three IPL teams for the 2024 playoffs.

The arrest of four accused ISIS militants comes two months after Assam Police apprehended India’s ISIS leader and a close comrade. Haris Farooqi and his companion Anurag Singh were apprehended in Assam’s Dhubri district after crossing into India from Bangladesh.

The two were taken to the Special Task Force (STF) office in Guwahati and then handed up to India’s anti-terrorism agency, the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

“The identity of both of them was ascertained, and it is found that accused Haris Farooqi alias Harish Ajmal Farukhi of Chakrata, Dehradun, is the head of ISIS in India. His associate Anurag Singh alias Rehan of Panipat got converted to Islam, while his wife is a Bangladeshi national,” the Assam Police CPRO said in a statement.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
