An FIR has been lodged against four persons in Delhi’s Shahin Bagh area for allegedly applying for voter registration using fraudulent means. The complaint for filing the FIR was made by the Electoral Registration Officer at the Shahin Bagh Police Station.
The individuals named in the complaint are Mohammad Haris, Anu Sharma, Anil Kumar Jain, and Mohammad Azizur Rahman. This is not the first time such allegations have emerged from Shahin Bagh, as an FIR was also filed previously for the creation of fake voter ID cards using forged documents.
The issue has surfaced just ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have accused each other of manipulating votes. According to a PTI report, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva shared voter statistics from the last Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, alleging that millions of minority voters were added to the voter list.
Sachdeva claimed that several Hindu homeowners in the Tughlakabad and Kalkaji constituencies had complained that many people from the minority community were registered as voters in their areas.
Arvind Kejriwal Accuses BJP of Manipulating Elections
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal has accused the BJP of attempting to win elections through dishonest means, saying, “The BJP has no vision or candidates. Now, they want to win at any cost by manipulating the system. They are using all kinds of tactics to win.”
Kejriwal highlighted an instance where BJP allegedly applied for the removal of 11,800 votes in Shahdara, a constituency they lost by only 5,000 votes in the previous election. He further claimed that if these 11,000 votes had been removed, AAP would have had no chance of winning.
Kejriwal also accused the BJP of trying to manipulate votes in New Delhi constituency to secure a win in the upcoming election.
