Tesla CEO Elon Musk has stirred up a storm with a bold prediction: Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will lose his position in the upcoming election. “He will be gone in the upcoming election,” Musk declared on X (formerly Twitter), responding to a user’s plea for help in ousting Trudeau. The statement adds fuel to an already charged political scene, with Trudeau’s Liberal Party facing strong challenges from Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives and Jagmeet Singh’s New Democratic Party. Trudeau’s current minority government status heightens his vulnerability, raising questions about the future of his leadership.
This isn’t the first time Musk has criticized Trudeau’s government. He has openly criticized Canada’s stance on free speech, particularly recent policies requiring online streaming services to register with government authorities. For Musk, the regulations represent a troubling encroachment on media freedom—a sentiment echoed by others in Canada concerned about government oversight.

Trudeau’s potential reelection is further complicated by Donald Trump’s potential return to the White House. With 75% of Canada’s exports flowing to the U.S., the Canadian economy could feel a seismic impact if Trump’s proposed policies take effect, particularly his suggested 10% tariff on all imports. Canadian officials and economists are increasingly alarmed, underscoring Canada’s economic sensitivity to U.S. policy.
Meanwhile, Canada’s relationship with India is on a steep decline. India has raised alarms about extremism and anti-India activity within Canada, calling for Canadian authorities to address these concerns. Tensions hit a peak after Canadian officials made unproven claims concerning the death of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, prompting India to withdraw its High Commissioner.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently condemned what he called a “deliberate attack” on a Hindu temple in Canada, decrying “cowardly attempts to intimidate” Indian diplomats. Modi underscored that New Delhi expects Canada to ensure justice and maintain order, further stressing an already fraught diplomatic bond. As Trudeau faces mounting internal and external pressures, Musk’s prediction may reflect more than just speculation—it could signal a shifting political reality for Canada.
