AppleInsider TV i.e Apple News aims to serve as your go-to source for all election-related news. Here are some of the features that the app offers, such as Live Activities for your Lock Screen that are updated real-time.
It can be a little overwhelming to keep up with all of the news, polls, and debates during election seasons. Fortunately, Apple has been making improvements to the way the Apple News app covers elections over time to make things easier.
Live Activities and Apple News
Live Activity support for news coverage is the most significant recent update that we have observed. It appears that Apple News editors used this feature for the first time during the Iowa Caucus on January 15.
As part of the feature overhaul for the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro, Live Activities were introduced with iOS 16. They are a unique kind of notification that appears on the Dynamic Island and shows the most recent information in real time as a pop-up or on the lock screen.

Apple News’s coverage of the election makes Live Activities very helpful. We could see an ever-updating list of the Iowa Caucus results and the percentage of delegates who reported when the iPhone was locked.
Long pressing the Dynamic Island will reveal the Live Activity whenever you are navigating the iPhone.
A current story ought to appear at the top of the “Today” view if it has the option to appear as a Live Activity. Click “follow” in the story’s corner to start the Live Activity.

Coverage of the 2024 Special Election
Although Apple News has long included a dedicated section for covering elections, its feature set keeps growing. You can always find it by choosing “Election 2024” from the list under the Following tab.
There’s a new way to customize election news in this section. Use this to select various channels, topics, and sources to follow. For instance, we selected a few sources, our preferred candidate, and coverage that was specific to Tennessee.
Apple News’ coverage of Election 2024 will get increasingly comprehensive as election day draws near. This allows you to keep track of the issues and politicians that are important to you personally with the “For You” section.
Bonus: Audio for Apple News+
If you’re looking for more general news coverage, we’d like to remind readers of an important resource we’ve relied upon since its inception — Apple News Audio and podcasts. Every day, “Apple News Today” condenses the most important stories into a 10-minute bite-sized chunk.
Articles in audio format are also available to Apple One Premier members and subscribers to Apple News+. Many of these stories can also be found in the Apple Podcasts app alongside “Apple News Today” for more convenient listening and queue management.
The Apple News app aims to be your one-stop shop for political coverage, regardless of your political inclination. We encourage everyone to give it a try because the integration of Live Activity makes it even more interesting.
