Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde has given an ultimatum to the ministers of his party who have just taken their oaths. Shinde mentioned that the party will shortly obtain affidavits from these ministers confirming their willingness to resign after two and a half years to allow new faces to enter.
Eknath Shinde mentioned that the Shiv Sena has embraced a ‘perform or perish’ approach, stating that only those who excel would remain in the Mahayuti cabinet, according to sources cited by Hindustan Times.
Maharashtra minister Shambhuraj Desai, a supporter of Shinde, stated that the affidavits were being collected so that Shinde could officially dismiss these ministers if he desired.
This suggests that Shinde might rely on a 2½ years rotation strategy for cabinet positions to appease dissatisfied MLAs. “Due to this policy, many additional individuals will have the chance to become ministers and represent their region, district, and constituency.”
A close associate of Shinde informed the publication that the Shiv Sena MLAs lack both ideology and loyalty to the Deputy CM. He mentioned that their sole desire is power and the party must allocate power fairly.
Senior Shiv Sena leaders Deepak Kesarkar, Abdul Sattar, and Tanaji Sawant were removed from the Mahayuti cabinet because of poor performance and accusations of corruption.

Although Satar faced accusations of arrogance during his time in office, Sawant ignored the tendering process in several issues concerning the health department. He also contended against all the IAS officers employed in the health department.
Sattar had also made contentious remarks that put the government in a difficult position. Other sidelined Shiv Sena MLAs include Narendra Bhondekar representing Bhandara and Prakash Surve from Magathane.
Shinde supporters such as Shambhuraj Desai, Uday Samant, Dada Bhuse, and Gulabrao Patil have been kept in the cabinet. Bharatsheth Gogavale, Pradeep Sarnaik, and Sanjay Shirsat are some of the individuals who have recently been appointed.
It’s not only Eknath Shinde; emphasis on performance appears to be crucial for both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that ministers recently inducted into the state government will face a “performance evaluation” after two and a half years, with those excelling being promoted. Deputy CM and NCP leader Ajit Pawar stated that “underperformers” can be swapped out in 2½ months.
