BSF Jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw has been experiencing trauma since his return from Pakistan on May 14 due to the mental torture he endured while in captivity under the Pakistan Rangers, after three weeks of detention, the government sources reported on Friday.
Shaw accidentally crossed border on April 23
Purnam Kumar Shaw, a BSF member who accidentally trespassed the international border on April 23 and was held by Pak Rangers, returned to India on Wednesday. This occurred four days following the agreement between India and Pakistan to stop military actions along the International Border and Line of Control on May 10.
Sources indicate that Shaw wasn’t physically tortured, but experienced mental torture in detention, including denied bathroom access, lack of sleep, and other inhumane treatment.
“He was blindfolded multiple times, and that the anxiety stemming from uncertainty has impacted his mental well-being,” sources revealed.
