The BJP, which surged to power in Delhi after a 27-year wait, is expected to announce its Chief Minister on Monday, resolving the ongoing uncertainty about who will lead the government in the national capital, sources revealed. They mentioned that the inauguration ceremony for the new government is expected to take place on February 18.

Intensive discussions have been taking place in Delhi in recent days to finalize candidates for the highest position. However, the party’s leadership has stayed silent, despite speculation surrounding various names, such as Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, and Rekha Gupta, among others.

The party had stated that it would stake claim to establish the government in Delhi once Prime Minister Narendra Modi came back from his trip to the US.

Among the leading candidates are Parvesh Verma, who triumphed over AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal; Ashish Sood, the Delhi BJP general secretary recognized for his strong links with central leaders; Rekha Gupta, a notable female figure; Vijender Gupta, a senior BJP figure and past Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly; Satish Upadhyay, a significant Brahmin leader and former state president; and Jitendra Mahajan, a robust RSS representative from the Vaishya community.

Party leaders have suggested that the national leadership might appoint a woman as the Chief Minister or choose a completely new candidate. Shikha Roy, who triumphed in Greater Kailash by beating AAP heavyweight Saurabh Bharadwaj, is another notable woman reportedly being considered.

As per sources, 15 MLAs have been selected for important ministerial roles. Party sources have indicated that the new administration is expected to lack a Deputy Chief Minister.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
