CSK CEO hopeful of Dhoni playing another season
Chennai Super Kings, the joint-most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League, missed out on a playoff spot in the current edition of the lucrative event by a whisker after finishing outside the top four on net run rate.
However, at CSK’s camp, success has always been measured by the process rather than the outcome. The conviction in the process is inextricably linked to the club’s ethos, with former captain MS Dhoni at the forefront.
There was a lot of conjecture that the current season would be the 42-year-old’s final campaign, with the subject of Dhoni’s future weighing heavily on everyone’s minds.

CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanatan spoke regarding the poster boy’s future, noting that the decision was entirely up to the wicketkeeper-batter himself.
“It’s a question only MS can answer,” Viswanathan said.
Kasi Sir, as he is affectionately called, reiterated that Dhoni has taken the correct judgments time and again, and that the team’s management has entire trust in him.
“We have always respected the decisions taken by MS. We have left it to him and as all of you know he has always taken his decisions and announced them at the appropriate time,” he added.

He indicated that Dhoni would announce his decision on his future once he had made up his mind, and he hoped that the World Cup winner would be available for the following season.
“We do expect that we will get a decision as and when he decides. But we are very hopeful he’ll be available for CSK next year,” he continued.
