Chou Tien-Chen from Chinese Taipei secured his 10th World Tour badminton championship by defeating Jonatan Christie in the men’s singles final of the BWF Arctic Open 2024 with scores of 21-18, 21-17 on Sunday (13 October).
Chou made a comeback in the second game to secure his first Super 500 title since his win in Thailand in 2019, following a close victory in the first game.
There was nothing to separate the two star players, with Christie holding a slight one-point advantage at the halfway mark of the initial game. Chou established his rhythm leading by two points, initiating a back-and-forth competition until the very end.
The two players were level at 17-17 before Chou again managed to take the advantage which proved enough to take the first game.

Christie seized the opportunity in the second round by establishing a quick four-point advantage while Chou was trying to catch up. The current title holder of the All England Open was leading at the halfway point and seemed ready to push for a third and final game.
However, Chou, who was persistent, refused to give up and fought his way back into the game, eventually taking the lead for the first time in the second game at 17-16. The two players swapped points until Chou gained a pivotal two-point lead, which proved to be insurmountable for Christie.
