India vs Bangladesh 1st Test: Jasprit Bumrah takes his 400th wicket in International cricket

Jasprit Bumrah reached a significant milestone during the second day of the opening Test match between India and Bangladesh in Chennai. Bumrah is just the 10th Indian bowler and the sixth fast bowler from India to achieve 400 wickets in international cricket across all formats.

Hasan Mahmud of Bangladesh was the 400th player to be dismissed by Bumrah in his career at the international level.

In home conditions, Jasprit Bumrah continued his top form and took three wickets during the first two sessions on Friday. Bumrah took a wicket in his initial over by dismissing Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam after hitting the off-stump of the left-hander. Afterwards, he got rid of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmud during the second session.

Bumrah got Hasan Mahmud out just before the Tea break with a delivery angled on the off stump, making it move slightly off the pitch. The ball quickly skidded and reached the batter swiftly, leaving Hasan Mahmud with little space to position himself properly.

At the age of 30, Jasprit Bumrah became part of a prestigious group of Indian pace bowlers like Kapil Dev, Zaheer Khan, Javagal Srinath, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammed Shami. Bumrah achieved the feat of 400 wickets in his 227th international cricket innings.

Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets in back-to-back overs as India dominated Bangladesh, who were 112 for 8 by tea time.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
