Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh nominated for FIH Player of the Year Award
On Saturday, Skipper Harmanpreet Singh, who led India to another bronze in hockey at the Olympics in Paris, was nominated for the FIH Player of the Year Award. The drag-flicker, aged 28, who scored the most goals in the Paris Olympics with 10 goals in eight games, had won the award consecutively from 2020 to 2022.

Harmanpreet said being nominated is a great honor
The Indian defender expressed in a release from Hockey India that being nominated for the FIH Player of the Year Award again is a great honor. “While I am elated to be named among some of the best players in the world, I would like to acknowledge that it would not have been possible without the support of my team,” he said.
The calm and composed captain of India scored seven goals from penalty corners and three from penalty strokes.

Harmanpreet selected along with Thierry Brinkman, Joep de Mol, Hannes Müller and Zach Wallace
Harmanpreet has been selected along with the Netherlands pair of Thierry Brinkman and Joep de Mol, Germany’s Hannes Müller, and England’s Zach Wallace.
All international competitions in 2024, such as Test matches, FIH Hockey Pro League, FIH Hockey Nations Cups, FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers, and the Olympic Games were carefully considered.

Harmanpreet deemed the Paris Olympics as the high point of his career, giving thanks to his team for their steadfast backing during tough moments, such as his difficulties with penalty corners in the last World Cup.
