BSP Supremo Mayawati pays last rites to Tamil Nadu party chief K Armstrong; says ‘No law and order left in state’
Mayawati, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief, has accused the Tamil Nadu government of failing to investigate the murder of state party chairman K Armstrong, who was slashed to death outside his home on July 5. The BSP supremo further asked that the state government transfer the inquiry to the Central Bureau of inquiry.
On Sunday, Mayawati traveled to Chennai with her nephew and BSP National Coordinator Akash Anand to pay her last rites to K Armstrong. Mayawati addressed her party members and questioned the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu.
“The way Armstrong was murdered suggests that there is no law and order in Tamil Nadu. The main culprits have not yet been apprehended,” she stated.

Mayawati demands CBI investigation in the case
Mayawati accused the DMK-led state government of failing to take the murder probe seriously, saying, “The state administration is not serious about this murder investigation; otherwise, the perpetrators would have been behind bars. If the state government does not intend to serve justice, this case should be turned over to the CBI.”
“We demand a CBI investigation. If the state government does not refer the case to the CBI, it means they are also involved in this murder,” she added.
BSP supremo raises questions over safety of dalits
Following Armstrong’s murder, Mayawati also questioned the safety of Dalits.
“It isn’t about the assassination of a single Dalit leader. “The entire Dalit community is under threat, and many Dalit leaders are afraid for their lives,” she claimed.
Mayawati also warned the BSP cadre not to take the law into their hands. “To ensure action against the accused, the party cadre should come forward but at the same time, stay within the limits of law and show that the weaker section does not take law into their hands,” added the politician.
