Ramesh Bidhuri, an MP for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been named the party’s election in-charge for the Tonk constituency in Rajasthan. Ramesh Bidhuri recently screamed harsh anti-Muslim slurs towards BSP MP Danish Ali in Parliament.

The decision came amid speculation that Congress leader Sachin Pilot would be contesting from the Tonk constituency in the upcoming assembly elections. Tonk is a stronghold of Pilot.

The election for the 200-member Rajasthan Legislative Assembly is expected to take place in November of this year, at the latest.

After BJP MP Bidhuri made offensive anti-Muslim statements against Danish Ali in the Lok Sabha during a debate about the Chandrayaan-3 mission, a big uproar recently broke out. His remarks were removed after they caused controversy.

The opposition Congress had urged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to take action against Bidhuri. At least four opposition parties have urged the Speaker to refer the matter to the Privileges Committee.

POWER CORRIDORS

Power Corridors (PC), as the name suggests, is about realpolitik—what is happening in the quarters that matter, how and why it is happening, the statics and dynamics of the affairs of the state. Yet, PC is not confined to power politics; it goes beyond the vicissitudes of Lutyen’s Delhi. It also features the most important developments in the economy, society, culture, cinema—in life in general.

It is a general magazine, but it offers insights that would be the envy of specialist publications and academic journals. For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
