Babar Azam’s form is a real concern for Pakistan. It has been a while since the Pakistan great has scored runs and questions are now being raised about his place in the team. Babar was asked to open in the tri-series opener against New Zealand but the batter could only score 10 runs in 23 balls in a tall chase of 331.
Babar shattered records during the early phase of his career and scored runs for fun. He was often compared to greats like Virat Kohli, but the recent form has made a massive dent to his reputation. Babar Azam’s last Test century came in December 2022 against New Zealand. The prolonged lean run saw the batter get dropped for the final two Tests against England at home. In ODIs, Babar last scored a hundred against Nepal in August 2023, which was also his last international hundred. Babar’s form is a real worry for Pakistan heading into the ICC Champions Trophy.
Meanwhile, the former Pakistan captain was brutally trolled after throwing away yet another opportunity.

Meanwhile, Fakhar Zaman was the only top-order batter that batted well in a daunting chase of 331. Fakhar made a stunning return to ODI cricket and scored 84 runs in 69 balls. Mohammad Rizwan, Kamran Ghulam and Tayyab Tahir also failed to make a significant impact as Pakistan lost to the Kiwis by 78 runs in the tri-series opener.
Earlier, 81 by Daryl Mitchell and 106 by Glenn Phillips helped New Zealand post a daunting total on the board.
