Indian badminton players Lakshya Sen and PV Sindhu have received favorable draws for their comeback competition at the Arctic Open, a BWF World Tour Super 500 event commencing on October 8.
Lakshya Sen to face Rasmus Gemke in the first round
Lakshya, who is returning to competition after his participation in the Paris Olympics, will be taking on Danish player Rasmus Gemke in the initial round of the men’s singles event. Gemke won their most recent encounter at the India Open in 2023 after facing each other twice.
However, with Lakshya’s recent performances and improved physical condition acquired at the Red Bull Arena in Austria for more than a month, it is anticipated that the young player will progress to the next stage to compete against Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei, who is seeded seventh.

Should Lakshya overcome Tien Chen’s challenging game, he will probably face World No. 3 Anders Antonsen in the quarterfinals.
In the men’s singles qualification round, ex-World No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth will compete against Kiran George, as Sathish Karunakaran goes up against Arnaud Merkle from France.
PV Sindhu to take on Michelle Li of Canada
In contrast, PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, will make her competitive return after exiting in the round of 16 at the Paris Olympics in August. She will compete against Michelle Li of Canada in the opening round.
Sindhu is anticipated to progress and could potentially meet the up-and-coming Japanese player Tomako Miyazaki in the following round.
Malvika Bansod to face Sung Shuo Yun of Chinese Taipei
Following a successful performance at the China Open Super 1000, Malvika Bansod has received a fair match-up against World No. 24 Sung Shuo Yun of Chinese Taipei.
Should Malvika successfully pass the first-round test, she will face a tough task in the second round against either top-seed Wang Zhi Yi of China or Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand.
