On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah pledged to expel illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators from Delhi and assured voters of a cleaner Yamuna in three years, should the BJP secure victory in the forthcoming Delhi elections.
He criticized the governing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for its inadequate management in Delhi, claiming that their administration would conclude on February 8, when the election results will be revealed.
“Under CM Arvind Kejriwal’s governance, Delhi deteriorated further. In a decade, numerous states within the country that established double-engine governments have achieved significant progress, yet Delhi is battling issues of waterlogging, contaminated water, and trash,” stated Shah during a public rally in Narela.
The pathetic condition of the Yamuna has turned into a significant issue of dispute between the BJP and the AAP, which had vowed to clean the river by 2025 but has not met that commitment, resulting in intensified criticism from the opposition.

Earlier this week, BJP’s Parvesh Verma, a candidate from New Delhi, submerged an effigy of Arvind Kejriwal in the Yamuna River, asserting that the AAP leader’s inability to deliver on his commitment to clean the Yamuna is now clear.
The AAP leader during his campaigns for the Delhi Assembly elections acknowledged that he was unable to keep the promise of cleaning the Yamuna. Nonetheless, he guaranteed the public that the river will be restored in the next two to three years once AAP regains control in Delhi.
The Home Minister emphasized the BJP’s allegation that AAP had disrespected Purvanchali voters and questioned if individuals from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh lack the right to vote.
“They (AAP) have not only created chaos but have also disrespected our Purvanchalis. It is said that Purvanchalis are fraudulent voters. Kejriwal ji, don’t my brothers and sisters from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand have the right to vote in Delhi?” Shah stated.
