Amir Sarfaraz, who murdered Indian citizen Sarabjit Singh, who was serving death sentence in Pakistan, was shot dead by unknown gunmen.

Sarfaraz was shot by motorcycle-riding assailants in Islampura area of ​​Lahore. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he died. Amir Sarfaraz was considered close to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed.

Attack occurred in Lahore

He was seriously injured when he was attacked by motorcycle-borne assailants in Islampura area of ​​Lahore in Pakistan, PTI quoted official sources as saying. Sarfaraz was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he died.

Amir Sarfaraz was lodged in Kot Lakhpat jail of Pakistan in connection with some case. On 26 April 2013, he attacked Sarabjit Singh and on 2 May, Sarabjit was declared dead. Sarbjit Singh was later declared a martyr by the Punjab government.

Sarabjit Singh’s life

Sarbjit Singh, resident of Bhikhiwind, Tarn Taran, crossed the India-Pakistan border and went to Pakistan on the evening of 30 August 1990. Later he was arrested by Pakistan Police in connection with the bomb blasts in Islamabad. Pakistan Police had claimed that Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Bhikhiwind village of Tarn Taran, is a spy of Indian agencies.

Punjabi native Sarabjit Singh was given the death penalty in 1990 for allegedly spying on others and blowing up at least fourteen Pakistani people in bombings in Punjab region, although his family and Indian officials fiercely denied this. According to Sarabjit Singh’s relatives, he accidentally crossed the Pakistani border while gardening.

In May 2013, Sarabjit Singh passed away in a Pakistani jail, having spent more than 20 years there. After being detained for 23 years at Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail, he was attacked by a group of prisoners that included Amir Sarfaraz, according to reports. Days have passed since Afzal Guru, the Indian terrorist convicted of the 2001 Parliament attack, was hanged.
