The Bengaluru district administration has announced a holiday for schools and colleges ahead of the Karnataka bandh on Friday (September 29).

‘Kannada Okkuta’, an umbrella organisation for Kannada outfits, including factions of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, Kannada Chalavali (Vatal Paksha), and various farmers’ bodies, has given a call for a statewide dawn-to-dusk shutdown on Friday to protest the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.

The bandh is reportedly expected to have an impact on transportation in the state, particularly in the southern region. Only buses from airports, railroad stations, and bus terminals, they added, will transport arriving passengers to Tamil Nadu.

People from all walks of life will likely take part in the enormous protest procession that will go from Town Hall to Freedom Park in the city, according to the organizers.

The opposition BJP and JD(S) have extended their support to the bandh, as well as hotels, autorickshaws, and hail riders associations in Karnataka.

“Autorickshaw Drivers’ Union and Ola Uber Drivers and Owners’ Association (OUDOA) are supporting the bandh. We will take out a rally from Nayandahalli to the Freedom Park tomorrow,” its president Tanveer Pasha was quoted as saying by PTI.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
