India has brought up the issue with the UK’s Rishi Sunak administration that radical British Sikh militants prevented its high commissioner from attending a gurdwara in Scotland.
The extreme Sikh activists informed the Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, that he was “not welcome.” The incident took place as India and Canada were embroiled in a major diplomatic dispute over the assassination of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil.
The Scotland police were informed when radical Sikh activists stopped Doraiswami from entering the gurdwara. Organisers from the gurdwara tried to ensure the envoy was safe.
