Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat gave her first remark in an emotional post after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed her appeal against her disqualification from the 50kg division final at the Paris Olympics.

Vinesh’s request for a joint silver medal was dismissed by CAS

Vinesh was disqualified from the 50kg women’s freestyle wrestling final after failing to make weight on the day of the gold medal match, and her request for a joint silver medal was denied by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Wednesday.

Vinesh Phogat posted an emotional message on her social media account, reflecting on her wrestling career since childhood and the unwavering love she had from her parents and relatives, despite multiple disappointments and heartbreaks. Vinesh also thanked her support staff, including Dinshaw Padiwalla, the Chief Medical Officer selected by the IOA for the Indian presence at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Vinesh shared how her mother’s hardships, father’s aspirations, and her early dreams all influenced her resiliency in her essay. The Indian wrestler gave her spouse, Somvir, credit for being her steadfast pillar of support during her highs and lows. Disappointed after being disqualified from the wrestling championship match, Vinesh declared her retirement from the sport, claiming she lacked the strength to go on.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
