In Bihar’s Khagaria area, a 45-year-old lady was beaten to death and her mangled body was discovered, sparking a huge protest by the locals.
Unidentified individuals brutalised and killed Sulekha Devi of the village of Pasraha. Before killing her with a sharp object, the attackers gouged out her eyes, severed her breasts, and disfigured her private parts, according to authorities.
When Sulekha Devi went to work in her field, the tragedy happened. After committing the crime, the offenders fled the scene.
This is not the family’s first tragedy; on April 25, 2014, both Sulekha Devi’s brother-in-law and her husband, Bablu Singh, were shot to death. Last year, the suspect in her husband’s murder case was granted bail and released.
The motive behind the crime is suspected to be a land dispute, although further investigations are underway to ascertain the exact cause, police said.
SDPO Manoj Kumar said at a press briefing that a knife was recovered from the crime scene. A thorough investigation into the entire incident is underway, he added.
