At least six people lost their lives after an accident took place on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway in Ghaziabad on Tuesday.

The details indicate that a bus and a car collided, causing the accident.

An injured eight-year old was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The driver of the bus was later arrested.

RK Kushwaha, ADCP (traffic), commented on the incident, “Six people died at the scene, while two are critically injured.”

“After taking CNG in Delhi from Ghazipur, the bus driver was approaching from the opposite direction. The TUV was travelling to Gurugram from the direction of Meerut. It was the driver’s fault. All the way from Delhi, he was travelling in the wrong direction.”

The ADCP added that the bus driver had been detained.

“The people in the car were all related family members. The bus had no students, according to the police.

On Monday, at least nine people lost lives, while seven others sustained injuries when a gas tanker overturned on a tempo in the Lilapur area of Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh.

The accident happened on the Lucknow-Varanasi highway, at a distance of about 15 km from the district headquarters.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath offered his condolences for the accident’s deceased and provided financial aid of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to each critically injured person.

POWER CORRIDORS

Power Corridors (PC), as the name suggests, is about realpolitik—what is happening in the quarters that matter, how and why it is happening, the statics and dynamics of the affairs of the state. Yet, PC is not confined to power politics; it goes beyond the vicissitudes of Lutyen’s Delhi. It also features the most important developments in the economy, society, culture, cinema—in life in general.

It is a general magazine, but it offers insights that would be the envy of specialist publications and academic journals. For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
