On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was engaged in a much-anticipated discussion with Donald Trump to learn specifics about the US leader’s phone call with Russia’s Vladimir Putin.
“The president of Ukraine is on the phone speaking with US President Donald Trump,” said Zelensky’s spokesperson Sergiy Nykyforov to reporters.
On Wednesday, the Kremlin mentioned that Putin and Trump “have mutual trust” and aim to restore US-Russia relations following over three years of Moscow’s actions in Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated, “Presidents Putin and Trump have a strong understanding, trust one another, and are focused on gradually normalizing their relations,” noting that their phone conversation on Tuesday lasted approximately two hours.
