‘Will fulfill people’s aspirations with consensus’, says PM Modi ahead of Parliament session

In his remarks ahead of the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significance of consensus while making choices for the country’s welfare, stating it is of “utmost importance”. His statements are significant because the NDA government won a third consecutive term with a smaller mandate, with the BJP falling short of the majority mark for the first time in a decade.

In his annual statement before the start of the Parliament session, Prime Minister Modi stated that his government would achieve the people’s aspirations with the support of consensus among partners.

“In the last ten years, we have always attempted to establish a tradition because we feel that while a majority is essential to operate the government, a consensus is critical to running the country. So it would be our constant efforts to serve Maa Bharti and achieve the hopes and ambitions of the 140 crore people, with everyone’s permission and by bringing everyone together,” he stated.

“We want to go ahead and speed up decisions by taking everyone together, by maintaining the sanctity of the Constitution,” he added.

PM Modi urges opposition to maintain dignity of democracy

In the 18th Lok Sabha, the NDA has 293 MPs, while the BJP has 240, 32 shy of a majority. The Opposition INDIA group has 234 members, with Congress contributing for 99.

During his speech, PM Modi urged opposition members to uphold the dignity of democracy by not disturbing the session’s activities. He stated that the public wanted substance, not theatrics or slogans, to be discussed in the House.

“The people of the country anticipate positive moves from the opposition. I hope that the Opposition will meet the expectations of ordinary citizens in order to preserve the dignity of democracy. People do not desire drama or disturbances. “People want substance, not slogans,” he explained.

First Parliamentary session after Lok Sabha elections

The Parliament session, the first since the Lok Sabha elections, saw freshly elected MPs, including Prime Minister Modi, take oath. The Lok Sabha Speaker will be elected on June 26, and President Droupadi Murmu will address a combined sitting of both Houses on June 27.

Encouraged by its increased numbers, the Opposition is anticipated to be aggressive, concentrating on matters like purported anomalies in the NEET-UG and NET exams, the moving of statues within the Parliament complex, and the government’s choice to designate seven-term BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab as the acting Speaker.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
