On Sunday, Kuwait awarded its prestigious honor – ‘The Order of Mubarak Al-Kabeer’ – to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his contribution to enhancing the strong ties between the two nations.
Prime Minister Modi was bestowed the honor by Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah at the Bayan Palace.
The ‘Order of Mubarak Al-Kabeer’ is a chivalric order in Kuwait.
The accolade was conferred upon Prime Minister Modi for enhancing the friendly ties between the two countries, according to Kuwait’s state news agency KUNA.
Officials stated that this marks the 20th international award presented to PM Modi by a nation.
The honor is given to Heads of State, foreign Sovereigns, and members of foreign royal families as a gesture of goodwill.
It has been conferred before upon international figures such as Bill Clinton, Prince Charles, and George Bush.
Modi arrived in Kuwait on Saturday for a visit lasting two days. His trip marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister to the Gulf country in 43 years.
He was given a ceremonial reception and a Guard of Honour at the Bayan Palace.
Modi had previously been awarded accolades from Gulf nations like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain.
In November, Prime Minister Modi received the highest honors from Guyana and Dominica for his efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as his significant contributions to the global community and initiatives to enhance bilateral relations with both Caribbean countries.
