A police raid as part of Punjab’s ongoing ‘War Against Drugs’ initiative escalated into a fatal confrontation on Friday morning when a wanted criminal shot at the officers.

The operation occurred at Shiva Homes close to Singhpura village in Zirakpur, aiming at Lavish Grover, a infamous criminal from Ludhiana with a lengthy record of serious crimes.

Grover, with 10 FIRs filed against him for murder and other offenses, was located through confidential information. Responding to the information received, a police team headed by SP Manpreet Singh arrived at his rented apartment to conduct a search.

However, rather than giving up, Grover reportedly shot at the officers. In response, officers shot him in the leg before managing to apprehend him.

After the incident, Grover was quickly taken to Dhakoli hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

An inspection of his apartment resulted in the seizure of three unlawful firearms and a large amount of drugs, further strengthening doubts about his participation in criminal activities and drug dealing.

Officials are currently examining his network and potential collaborators. SP Manpreet Singh highlighted that this meeting acts as a significant caution to offenders active in Punjab.

The ‘War on Drugs’ initiative has resulted in numerous successful operations, and law enforcement continues to focus on breaking down drug and criminal syndicates throughout the state.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
