Vehicle with 23 passengers on board falls into deep gorge in Uttarakhand; 8 feared dead
According to news agency PTI, eight persons are believed to have died after a tempo traveler carrying 23 passengers crashed down a deep valley in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district on Saturday. Up to seven persons are said to have been wounded.
The injured individuals have been sent to the nearest medical facility for treatment.
The incident took place near the Alakananda River on the Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami expresses grief
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences for the disaster and stated that the District Magistrate had been appointed to probe the situation.
“I pray to God to allow the souls of the dead a place at His feet and to give the grieving family the strength to bear this terrible sadness. I pray to Baba Kedar for the injured’s rapid recovery,” he posted on his official handle.
The local administration and SDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations. The passengers were travelling from Delhi/Ghaziabad to Chopta Tungnat.
