Team India is set to face England in the second test match of the series at Edgbaston with worries surrounding all around. After losing the first test at Headingley, Team India will face an uphill task as concerns regarding Star bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s participation in the match loom.
India’s dismal record at Edgbaston
Apart from this, Team India is carrying behind a dismal record at Edgbaston as the Men in Blue have never tasted success at the venue.
The Indian team has previously played at the venue eight times, recording seven losses and one match ending in draw. The Asian powerhouse played their first match at the venue 58 years ago and aim to secure a victory for the first time.

Among venues where India has never secured a victory, Edgbaston stands out, as they have participated in the second-highest number of matches there, next to Kensington Oval in Barbados (West Indies) and Old Trafford in Manchester (England), at nine games each.
The Bumrah Headache
Jasprit Bumrah is fit and ready for the second Test against England, but India is not disclosing if he will participate at Edgbaston, as he is expected to play in only three of the five matches in the series.
Team India can’t really afford to lose Jasprit Bumrah as they are already 1-0 down in the series and another loss will mean that they have little chance to stage a comeback in the series.
Bumrah once again proved to be the spearhead of Indian bowling as he bowled impressively without getting much support from the other end.
Team India needs to get Bumrah ready for the second test if they need any chance to level the series.
Need to work on fielding
India’s fielding at Headingley was one of the major reasons for the loss in the first test. At this level, you just can’t afford to drop so many catches.

In the words of Former cricketer Kiran More, fielding was where faltered. “Those were easy catches — no one misses those — and that was what mattered,” he said.
As there is an old saying in Cricket- catches win matches, Team India let them down by poor ground fielding. Team India needs to see it as a wake-up call and boost their fielding if they want to make a comeback in the series.
