A delegation of prominent Ulemas and Muslim residents from Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin and Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin met Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena today to express grave concerns about the ongoing attacks on Hindu and other minority communities in Bangladesh.
The delegation emphasized their solidarity with their Hindu brethren and other minorities, expressing alarm over the deteriorating situation in Bangladesh and its potential implications.
During the meeting, the delegation called for immediate and decisive action against illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators, particularly in Delhi. They urged that stringent measures be taken to prevent infiltrators from securing housing, with a strong recommendation that those already renting properties to them should evict such tenants. They also emphasized that no employment opportunities should be extended to infiltrators and called for the removal of those currently employed.
The delegation further requested that Delhi residents actively report any suspected illegal infiltrators in their neighborhoods to the police. They highlighted the urgent need for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Delhi Police to clear illegal encroachments on roads, footpaths, parks, and other government lands.
Additionally, they demanded the immediate cancellation of government documents such as Aadhaar cards and voter IDs that had been acquired illegally by infiltrators. Institutions such as masjids and madrasas were urged to ensure that no such individuals are being sheltered on their premises.
