A delegation of prominent Ulemas and Muslim residents from Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin and Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin met Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena today to express grave concerns about the ongoing attacks on Hindu and other minority communities in Bangladesh.

The delegation emphasized their solidarity with their Hindu brethren and other minorities, expressing alarm over the deteriorating situation in Bangladesh and its potential implications.

During the meeting, the delegation called for immediate and decisive action against illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators, particularly in Delhi. They urged that stringent measures be taken to prevent infiltrators from securing housing, with a strong recommendation that those already renting properties to them should evict such tenants. They also emphasized that no employment opportunities should be extended to infiltrators and called for the removal of those currently employed.

The delegation further requested that Delhi residents actively report any suspected illegal infiltrators in their neighborhoods to the police. They highlighted the urgent need for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Delhi Police to clear illegal encroachments on roads, footpaths, parks, and other government lands.

Additionally, they demanded the immediate cancellation of government documents such as Aadhaar cards and voter IDs that had been acquired illegally by infiltrators. Institutions such as masjids and madrasas were urged to ensure that no such individuals are being sheltered on their premises.

The delegation proposed a special drive to identify illegal infiltrators and facilitate their deportation to Bangladesh, emphasizing that these measures were necessary to address public concerns and uphold law and order in the city. A detailed representation of these demands was submitted to the Lieutenant Governor for urgent consideration.

Expressing solidarity with their Hindu brethren and other minorities facing escalating challenges in Bangladesh, the delegation outlined several demands for urgent consideration:

  • Strict Action Against Illegal Infiltrators: The delegation urged stringent measures to address illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators, particularly in Delhi.
  • Rental Restrictions: Residents were advised against renting properties to illegal infiltrators, with those already renting asked to evict such tenants.
  • Employment Prohibition: They requested that no employment be provided to illegal infiltrators, with existing employers urged to terminate such arrangements.
  • Neighborhood Monitoring: Delhi residents were encouraged to report any suspected illegal infiltrators living in their vicinity to the police.
  • Public Land Clearance: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Delhi Police were urged to clear illegal encroachments by infiltrators from roads, footpaths, parks, and government lands.
  • Cancellation of Fraudulent Documents: Immediate cancellation of government-issued documents like Aadhaar cards or voter IDs obtained illegally by infiltrators was demanded.
  • Action on Shelters by Religious Institutions: Masjids or Madrasas found sheltering infiltrators were asked to evict them without delay.
  • Identification Drive: A special drive to identify illegal infiltrators and facilitate their deportation back to Bangladesh was proposed.

Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
