Naxals detonate Improvised Explosive Device in Chhattisgarh; Two ITBP personnel killed
Officials stated that Naxals carried out a bomb explosion in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh on Saturday, resulting in the death of two Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel. The Naxals detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the squad coming back from an anti-Naxal search mission in Abujhmad.
The two soldiers were identified as Amar Panwar, aged 36, from Satara in Maharashtra, and K Rajesh, also 36, from Kadappa in Andhra Pradesh. Narayanpur SP Prabhat Kumar confirmed that both soldiers belonged to the 53rd Battalion of the ITBP.
According to officials, a joint party of the ITBP, the Border Security Force (BSF) and the District Reserve Guard (DRG) from Orchha, Mohndi and Irkbhatti of Narayanpur district had left for Dhurbeda for the operation.
During their return from the operation on Saturday, between 11:30 am and 12:00 noon, two jawans lost their lives in an explosion in a forest close to Kodlier village. Additionally, two jawans from the Narayanpur District Police sustained injuries, but their condition is currently stable, as confirmed by officials.

Naxals carried out an IED blast in Bijapur resulting in death of two jawans, injuring 4 others
During July, Naxals carried out an IED blast in Bijapur district which resulted in the death of two jawans and injuries to four others. The incident occurred as security forces were coming back from an operation against Naxals and the pipe bomb detonated.
In a similar attack in June, two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel lost their lives. They were conducting a regular patrol with a Road Opening Party on a truck and bikes when the IED blast destroyed the truck.

Meanwhile, the state also recorded the highest number of killings of Naxalites. More than 140 Naxals were shot down by security forces in Chhattisgarh in the first half of 2024 alone.
