Trump for Nobel Peace? Pakistan Pitches the Irony of the Century

Pakistan, long accused of harboring terrorists, nominates Donald Trump—famed for ignoring Gaza, failing on Ukraine, and caging migrants—for the Nobel Peace Prize.

In a move so ironic it makes satire redundant, Trump, who once tweeted nuclear threats and abandoned peace accords, is now a peace prize nominee.

By The Irony Times Bureau

June 21, 2025–In what may be the most inspired work of geopolitical satire ever committed without intending to be, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan — yes, the same country that once gave Osama Bin Laden a scenic retirement bungalow in Abbottabad — has officially nominated Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

Yes, that Donald Trump — the real estate mogul turned impeached president turned booking-photo icon — who has shown all the peace-building instincts of a firecracker in a fireworks factory.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, Trump deserves the prize for his “stabilizing influence” in recent regional tensions and “commitment to peace,” which in this case seems to mean not publicly commenting on anything unless it includes the words “tremendous,” “witch hunt,” or “Hunter Biden.”

First Term Recap: Peace Through Provocation

From 2016 to 2020, Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal, escalated arms sales to war-torn regions, gutted global climate and peace accords, and played footsie with autocrats while scolding allies. He insulted NATO, pulled troops from northern Syria to make room for Turkish tanks, and tweeted nuclear threats at North Korea like he was drunk-texting from the Situation Room.

Ukraine: The Deal That Never Was

In recent months, Trump has been trying to insert himself as a “great negotiator” in the Russia–Ukraine war, offering to solve it “in 24 hours” — though no one can quite explain how. Despite meeting no parties, proposing no plan, and using “peace plan” and “business deal” interchangeably, Trump continues to insist he alone can end the war.

Selective Silence and Global Amnesia

When Gaza burned, Trump said nothing. When Israel bombed Iran, he hosted a fundraising dinner with crypto billionaires. When asked about civilian casualties, his only reply was, “Gas prices are looking tremendous under my leadership.”

Yet somehow, Pakistan sees in him a beacon of restraint — perhaps because, like Pakistan, he’s made a career out of ignoring the consequences of his own actions while demanding applause.

Bonded by Double Standards

Both Trump and the Pakistani establishment share a unique diplomatic philosophy:
– Punish the poor, protect the powerful
– Silence equals strategy
– Morality is optional if optics are good

Both have failed to condemn extremism when politically inconvenient. Both have vilified the media. Both have a complicated relationship with basic facts.

Next Nomination: Kim Jong-un?

Speculation is rife that Pakistan’s next nomination may include Kim Jong-un for “consistently maintaining internal peace by removing all dissenters” or Elon Musk for “bringing people together through traffic congestion and social media meltdowns.”

The Nobel Committee has not responded to the nomination but is reportedly considering installing a sarcasm filter in their submission portal.

As for Trump, when informed of the nomination, he reportedly said:

“Of course they nominated me. I ended World War II. People forget that.”

The Nobel Committee declined to comment but was spotted collectively sighing into their coffee cups.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
