Tragic! 7 labourers die as wall collapses during construction in Gujarat’s Mehsana

Wall collapses at construction site in Gujarat’s Mehsana; 7 workers die, several feared burried

Police stated that seven construction workers died after a wall collapsed on them at a construction site in Gujarat’s Mehsana district on Saturday. A rescue operation is currently in progress, as there are concerns that additional workers may be stuck beneath the rubble.

The incident took place as a group of workers were excavating a hole for a subterranean reservoir for a plant close to Kadi town, around 37 km from the district center.

Tragic incident occurred at construction site of a factory

Following the collapse of the wall, loose soil buried the workers alive at a construction site of a factory.

“Five bodies have been recovered, and three to four other labourers are feared buried. A rescue operation is going on,” a police official said.

Rescue operation underway

According to inspector Prahaladsinh Vaghela of Kadi police station, a group of workers were excavating a hole for an underground tank at Steel Inox Stainless Pvt Ltd factory in Jasalpur village when they were trapped and suffocated by collapsing soil.

As the rescue operations continued, Mehsana Superintendent of Police Tarun Duggal confirmed the number of casualties.

Ambulance and police are present at the spot.
