A teacher in Bengaluru was detained for reportedly blackmailing and extorting funds from a student’s parent with whom she was involved in an affair.

Sridevi Rudagi (25) along with two accomplices – Ganesh Kale, 38, and Sagar, 28 – were detained for reportedly extorting Rs 4 lakh from the father of a student and subsequently blackmailing him using photos and videos of their interactions.

The victim was a merchant who resided with his spouse and three daughters. In 2023, during the admission process, he enrolled his five-year-old in the school when he met Sridevi Rudagi. He mentioned that she stayed in contact and they started sending him messages and having video calls with him too.

When their encounters became intimate, Sridevi Rudagi exploited them to extract Rs 4 lakh from him. Later, in January, she requested Rs 15 lakh.

The victim subsequently chose to move his family to Gujarat, for which he required the child’s Transfer Certificate.

When he arrived to retrieve it, the three suspects cornered him and displayed private photos and videos. The defendant subsequently requested Rs 20 lakh from him.

He then transferred Rs 1.9 lakh but the demands continued. When Sridevi Rudagi kept pestering him for more money, the victim called the police.

The accused have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
