T20 World Cup: India defeat Pakistan by 6 runs

Jasprit Bumrah bowled an outstanding spell as India defeated Pakistan by six runs at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Chasing a target of 120, Pakistan were 73 for 3 in 12.1 overs, needing run-a-ball 47, but Bumrah turned the game around with some superb bowling. He finished with 3 for 14 in four overs, helping Team India to restrict Pakistan to 113 for 7 after 20 overs.

India vs Pakistan: Pant’s 42 guides India to 119

Earlier, Pakistan’s pacers were spot on, bowling out India for 119 runs. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf were Pakistan’s top bowlers, both with three wickets, while Mohammad Amir took two.

Rishabh Pant scored 42 runs, but the other Indian hitters failed to produce notable performances after Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bowl first. India were 81 for 3 after 10 overs, but then suffered a batting collapse, scoring 38 runs and losing 7 wickets in the next 9 overs.

Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary cricketer, was severely critical of India’s batting, claiming that Rohit Sharma and his guys were irresponsible and arrogant, unable to respect Pakistan’s high-quality bowling attack.

India vs Pakistan: Pakistan managed only 113-7

Pakistan achieved 113 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs, paying the price for a conservative batting style. Pakistan is in danger of being eliminated from the T20 World Cup in the group stage after losing two consecutive matches. The USA upset Pakistan in their tournament opener on Thursday in Dallas.

On one hand, Pakistan has slipped to the fourth position in the five-team Group A points table, India jumped to the top spot with a better NRR than the United States.

Jasprit Bumrah was at his best, bowling 14 dot balls in his four-over spell taking three wickets, including Babar Azam and a well-set Mohammad Rizwan in his second spell. Hardik Pandya demonstrated his ability with the ball on a day when he struggled with the bat.

Mohammad Rizwan received a lot of flak for his 44-ball 31 and inability to end the game for Pakistan. In the fifteenth over, he tossed it away after demonstrating sufficient game awareness.

Following Rizwan’s wicket, the 2009 champions scored only 33 runs in 35 balls as each new batter failed to deal with the surface and the strength of the Indian bowling attack at the death.

Pakistan required 21 runs from their final two overs, with finisher Iftikhar Ahmed still in the middle. And that’s when Bumrah delivered a superb 19th over, surrendering only three runs and ending Pakistan’s aspirations with the wicket of Iftikhar. Despite Naseem Shah’s heroics with the ball, Arshdeep Singh eventually closed off the match.

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
