On Monday, the Supreme Court ordered the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal, to leave its Rouse Avenue office in the capital city. The court noted that the Delhi High Court had been given the land for the purpose of developing judicial infrastructure.

The party has been ordered by SC to leave the property until June 15, 2024.

A bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra has given directions to AAP to approach the Land And Development Office (L&DO) for the allocation of suitable land for its offices.

The bench emphasized that the AAP does not now have the legal authority to remain in the allocated land. “We would request the L&DO to process the application and communicate its decision within a period of four weeks,” the bench said.

The bench gave the partythe date of June 15 to leave the property, taking into account the approaching Lok Sabha elections. “In view of the impending general elections, we grant time until June 15, 2024 to vacate the premises so that land allotted to expand the district judiciary’s footprint can be utilised on expeditious basis,” the court stated.

Speaking on behalf of the city’s ruling party, senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi claimed that the AAP is one of the six national parties in the nation. They claim that as a national party, we receive nothing. Everyone else is in better places, but I’m given Badarpur,” Singhvi remarked.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
