Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar came down hard on former England players and Ben Stokes who accused India of being “scared” to face England after Ravindra Jadeja and Sundar frustrated England bowlers and managed to salvage a draw. Gavaskar responded to criticism suggesting that India was cautious after earlier defeats,

“India doesn’t get scared – we get strategic,” stated Gavaskar emphatically. He pointed out that England’s aggressive ‘Bazball’ approach might work in certain conditions, however Indian players have shown remarkable resilience and planning.

He reminded critics of India’s historic performances abroad – including Test wins in Australia and England. Gavaskar said that questioning their courage was an insult to the team’s grit and achievements.

Gavaskar’s fiery response resonated with fans, who saw it as a fitting rebuttal to England’s narrative war off the field.

‘Why did you not declare’, Sunil Gavaskar asks Ben Stokes

Gavaskar delivered a sharp and cheeky jibe aimed at Ben Stokes during his commentary. He suggested that Gill should have confronted Stokes with a bold question: “Why didn’t you declare?”

The remark came in the context of England’s ultra-aggressive ‘Bazball’ approach, which often includes bold declarations for results. However, in the recent Test, it was surprisingly chosen by Ben Stokes not to declare despite a sizable lead and enough time left in the match being held by England.
Gavaskar, unimpressed by the inconsistency in England’s strategy, sarcastically suggested that Gill should have walked up to Stokes and asked, “You talk about playing bold and brave cricket—then why didn’t you declare?”

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
