Speaking at News18’s “Diamond States Summit” program, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah discussed the state’s historical repeal of Article 370 and acknowledged that separatist activity in J&K has decreased since 2019.
According to the chief minister, things have improved and separatist activity in J&K has decreased since 2019. The fact that Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq would receive CRPF coverage was previously unimaginable, he continued.
Following a review of the threat perception that had grown after Farooq’s travel to New Delhi, the Center raised his security cover on February 21.

While in Delhi, Farooq met with a Kashmiri Pandit organization and presented a memorandum to the joint parliamentary committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill.
According to the sources, he was assigned to CRPF troops who had received close protection training.
The provisions under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that granted the state of Jammu and Kashmir a unique status were repealed by the Union Government on August 5, 2019.
Home Minister Amit Shah declared in the Rajya Sabha that the government has revoked the special status that Article 370 of the Constitution had given to Jammu and Kashmir.
In a Presidential Ordinance, the government revoked Article 35A and deprives Jammu and Kashmir of its unique status.
