An alleged medical negligence case has emerged in Lucknow, where a pair of surgical scissors were found in a woman’s stomach 17 years post her caesarean section.
Sandhya Pandey, the mother, delivered a baby through C-section at ‘She Medical Care’ nursing home on February 28, 2008. As stated in a police report lodged by her husband, Arvind Kumar Pandey, she had suffered from continuous abdominal pain following the surgery.
In spite of multiple consultations with several doctors, her condition did not get better.
The shocking finding was made recently when Sandhya Pandey had an X-ray at Lucknow Medical College during a different medical assessment. The X-ray showed that the scissors were stuck inside her abdomen.

Later, she was admitted to King George’s Medical University (KGMU), where a surgery was performed on March 26th to extract the object.
KGMU spokesperson, Sudhir Singh, verified the news, stating that the scissors were removed after a complex procedure, and the patient has now been discharged and returned home.
The husband’s complaint identified Dr. Pushpa Jaiswal, the surgeon who conducted the initial operation, as accountable for the negligence and called for additional inquiry into the issue.
