The RSS has urged the government to quickly seek global assistance in addressing the increasing violence against Hindus and other minority groups in Bangladesh.
RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale denounced the unfair detention of Chinmoy Krishna Das, a Hindu monk and former Iskcon leader, and called for his immediate release, highlighting the ongoing persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh. He also blamed the government of Bangladesh, headed by Mumammad Yunus, for passively allowing the increase in violence against the Hindu minority.
Bangladesh Police detained former Iskcon monk Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in Dhaka as he was en route to Chattogram.
“The attacks, murders, looting, arson as well as inhuman atrocities by Islamic fundamentalists on Hindus, women and all other minorities in Bangladesh are extremely worrying and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh condemns this,” the RSS statement said.
Hosabale emphasized the importance of putting an end to such atrocities and encouraged the Indian government to maintain its efforts in addressing the crisis in Bangladesh. He also urged for prompt diplomatic efforts to garner global backing and exert pressure on the Bangladesh government to safeguard its religious minorities.
During his Vijayadashami speech in October, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat also talked about the challenges experienced by Hindu refugees from Bangladesh, emphasizing the violent incidents they faced post the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina’s regime following a revolt by students. Bhagwat praised the Hindu minority for their inaugural organized resistance against extreme forces in Bangladesh.
During August, numerous Hindus protested in Dhaka and Chattogram, asking for those responsible for the assaults on their community to be held accountable.
