Joe Root moves to 3rd spot in Most Test Runs list
Joe Root has surpassed Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid to move to the third spot in the list of players with Most Test Runs in the history of Test cricket. Root, England’s leading run scorer in Test and international cricket overall, began the innings with 13,259 Test runs, requiring only 30 runs to surpass Kallis (13,289) and Dravid (13,288).
On the third day of the 4th Test between England and India in Manchester, Root surpassed Rahul Dravid’s record with a single off Jasprit Bumrah in the 57th over of the innings. He subsequently hit another single off Mohammed Siraj in the following over to surpass Jacques Kallis’ record.

In the list of players with Most Test Runs, Joe Root is closing in on Ricky Ponting to move to the second spot while Tendulkar sits at the top with 15,921 runs.
He still needs more than 2500 runs to overtake the great Sachin Tendulkar.

Emphasising on the impact of Pant’s Injury, Ricky Ponting said that Rishabh’s playing style and the energy he brings to the Indian team, that is what they might miss the most. “Someone who can apply pressure on the rivals,” Ponting remarked. “Indian fans should remain hopeful and pray it’s not as severe as it appear. If he misses the rest of the game, it significantly impacts India’s chances throughout the series.
