Officials claimed a “swift and coordinated” response, but eyewitnesses described utter chaos, overwhelmed doctors, and families clashing with police.

New Delhi, November 11, 2025 — The wails of grieving families pierced the night outside Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital on Monday, hours after a car bomb explosion near Red Fort killed at least 10 people and injured over 25. By Tuesday dawn, the grief has turned into outrage as distraught relatives alleged they were denied ambulances to take home the bodies of their loved ones.
Hospital staff reportedly told them: “Khud se dekho kaise leke jaaoge bodies” (“Figure out yourselves how to take the bodies”).
The blast — triggered by a Hyundai i20 at a traffic signal near Gate No. 1 of Red Fort Metro Station around 7 p.m. — sent shockwaves across the capital. Shattered glass, charred vehicles, and scattered human remains marked the site as emergency teams raced to respond.
Overwhelmed Hospital, Angry Crowds
By 9 p.m., LNJP — Delhi’s largest trauma centre — had received more than 30 victims. Ten were declared dead on arrival. Inside the emergency ward, chaos reigned: bloodied stretchers, exhausted doctors, and relatives pushing past barricades in search of loved ones.
Outside the mortuary, hundreds gathered, clutching photos and scanning lists of the dead and injured taped to the walls. Mobile phone flashlights flickered in the darkness as tempers flared.
“We begged for an ambulance to take my brother’s body home,” said Mohammad Salim of Old Delhi, whose 28-year-old sibling was among the dead. “The doctor said, ‘We don’t have vehicles. Arrange it yourself.’ How can they say that?”
Independent journalist Tanushree Pandey, reporting live from the scene, confirmed multiple families faced the same ordeal. “Doctors are overwhelmed, but the insensitivity is shocking,” she posted on X, sharing a video of a woman collapsing outside the hospital gate.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited LNJP late Monday night, meeting the injured before heading to the blast site. He promised a “thorough probe” but made no mention of the hospital chaos.
LIVE- Sharam se doob ke mar jaaeye jitne bhi sarkaar ke log hain. SHAME.
I’m outside LNJP hospital right now. Families here are telling me they’re not even being provided ambulances.

Blast Site: A War Zone in the Heart of Delhi
The explosion — powerful enough to hurl a car door nearly 50 metres — left a crater on the road. Six nearby vehicles caught fire. Street vendors, rickshaw pullers, and commuters bore the brunt.
“I saw a man’s leg lying on the footpath,” recalled Rajesh Kumar, a tea seller 200 metres from the spot. “People were running with blood on their faces. It was like a movie scene.”
Delhi Police has registered a case under the UAPA and the Explosives Act. NSG commandos and bomb disposal squads remain deployed. No group has yet claimed responsibility.
