Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Tuesday that he is prepared to collaborate under US President Donald Trump’s “strong leadership” to attain peace while the nation remains engaged in conflict with Russia.
Hours after Trump halted US aid to Ukraine, Zelenskyy remarked that his nation is prepared to engage in negotiations at the earliest opportunity.
“None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts,” Zelenskyy tweeted.
On Monday, the Trump administration halted military aid to Ukraine in a bid to compel Zelenskyy to engage in discussions to resolve the conflict with Russia. The White House stated that the order will stay in effect until Ukraine shows dedication to peace talks.

“We are ready to work fast to end the war, and the first stages could be the release of prisoners and truce in the sky – ban on missiles, long-ranged drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure – and truce in the sea immediately, if Russia will do the same. Then we want to move very fast through all next stages and to work with the US to agree a strong final deal,” Zelensky added.
Trump stopped US aid to Ukraine shortly after a fraught White House meeting, in which he and Vice President JD Vance criticized President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for what they perceived as an ingratitude regarding the over $180 billion in American military support. When Zelenskyy inquired about Trump’s noticeable pivot towards Moscow, he was instructed to exit the Oval Office.
Zelenskyy expressed his regret again regarding the events at the White House.
“Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive,” he said.
He also mentioned that Kyiv is prepared to finalize an agreement allowing the US priority access to Ukraine’s natural resources and minerals “at any time and in any convenient manner.”
