Deputy Superintendent of Police Raghuveer Singh Bhati stated that he was presented via video conference in court on Sunday and was then remanded to judicial custody for a period of 14 days.
When the voting ended and the polling party was leaving, Meena and his supporters tried to stop them.
Meena slapped Sub-Divisional Magistrate Amit Chaudhary on November 13 while he was on election duty in Samravta village in the Deoli-Uniara Assembly constituency.
The violent mob injured 26 police officers. Approximately 60 motorcycles and 18 cars were also set on fire in the village. Meena has been involved in four FIRs related to the incidents registered up to now.
Meena was born in Nayagaon village in Atru tehsil of Baran district, into a family with a political background. His father, Kalyan Singh served as a sarpanch for nearly thirty years, whereas his mother is currently holding the position of sarpanch. Meena’s wife, Sunita, is a member of the Zila Parishad, while his younger brother’s wife serves as a member of the Panchayat Samiti.
Meena began her political career in student organizations, achieving the position of general secretary of Rajasthan University’s student union in the early 2000s as a member of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), which is affiliated with the Congress party. Over time, Meena’s relationship with senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot strengthened, leading to her being viewed as a leader within Pilot’s faction. She also admired Kirodi Lal Meena from the BJP, who serves as a state Cabinet minister. Both Pilot and Kirodi Lal wield significant power in the eastern region of Rajasthan.
