Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Jammu and Kashmir on Friday and met with the victims of the devastating Pahalgam terror attack. He also met with J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and discussed about the current situation in the Union Territory and assured full support to the leadership. “I assured them that my party and I will completely back them,” he stated.
The terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, aimed at tourists in Baisaran meadow, led to the fatalities of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali individual, and left numerous others wounded.
Rahul assured full support to people of Jammu & Kashmir
The assault has been criticised the world over as an effort to undermine harmony and solidarity in the nation. Gandhi showed his support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the assault aimed to fracture Indian society.

Rahul stated that the terror attack was an attempt to disrupt the love and harmony among the people of the nation. “I arrived here to understand the circumstances and to assist,” Gandhi stated during his visit. “The entire populace of Jammu and Kashmir has denounced this horrific act and has wholeheartedly stood by the country during this period. My sincere sympathies extend to those who have experienced the loss of their loved ones,” he said.
Rahul visited a Srinagar hospital and met injured victims
Alongside his meetings with political leaders, Rahul Gandhi also visited a hospital in Srinagar to meet an attack victim who was injured. He comforted the wounded and their families by stating that the country is united in the battle against terrorism. Gandhi stressed that the opposition parties have demonstrated complete backing for the government’s reaction to the terror attack.
“We are ready to assist with any action the government decides to take. The purpose of this attack is to divide the citizens of India, and it’s important that all Indians come together to thwart the terrorists’ intenstions,” he remarked.
He also denounced the targeting of Kashmiris in different regions of India after the attack, urging for national unity and solidarity during difficult times.
Gandhi also met with different local organizations, such as merchants, student leaders, and tourism sector representatives, to evaluate the broader impact of the attack on the area.
