PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen cruised into the semi-finals of the Syed Modi International Super 300 badminton tournament. On Friday, November 29, Sindhu, the champion in 2021 and 2022, beat Dai Wang of China in the quarterfinal that lasted for 48 minutes.

In the semi-finals, 29-year-old Sindhu will face off against Indian compatriot Unnati Hooda. Sindhu, who holds the 18th rank globally, expressed her reluctance to diminish Wang’s ranking of 118th globally.

“Today’s match was important. Even though she is a low-ranked player, it doesn’t matter. I have rectified my mistakes from yesterday, what went wrong I have not made those again today. I was aggressive from the beginning. Overall, I am happy with my game compared to yesterday,” Sindhu said after the win.

“Yesterday, it was a rough patch at some point of time. But I think today I did not give her a chance. I am happy with the result and my game. I would like to finish the year on a very good note,” Sindhu added.

Sindhu faces a tough challenge as Hooda, who won the Odisha Open in 2022 as well, beat USA’s Ishika Jaiswal 21-16, 21-9 in the quarterfinals and is in great form.

On the flip side, Lakshya outplayed Meiraba Luwang Maisnam and emerged victorious with a score of 21-8, 21-19 in the quarterfinals of the men’s singles event. Lakshya will compete against Shogo Ogawa from Japan for a chance to advance to the final round.

“The match was well-played. In general, pleased with how I began.” Lakshya said the second game was challenging at times, but he was glad to win the match.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
