New Delhi, October 22, 2025: Punjabi singer Teji Kahlon was shot in Canada in what police believe is the latest episode in an escalating transnational gang war linked to fugitive Indian gangster Rohit Godara. The attack, which occurred late Monday, has drawn international attention due to Godara’s alleged connections with several high-profile killings in India.
A social media post shared by three men—Mahender Saran Dilana, Rahul Rinau, and Vicky Phalwan—claimed responsibility for the attack, saying Kahlon had been “punished” for allegedly funding rival groups and acting as an informant. “We carried out the shooting in Canada at Teji Kahlon. He was shot in the stomach. If he understands, fine. If not, next time we will finish him,” the post read.
The trio accused Kahlon of providing weapons and financial aid to rival gangs while secretly leaking information about Godara’s network. Canadian authorities have launched an investigation into the attack and are coordinating with Indian agencies to verify the claims made online. Kahlon, who has released several Punjabi music singles in recent years, is reportedly undergoing treatment in hospital.
The shooting comes amid a surge in gang-linked violence with roots in India and Canada, where rival factions associated with Punjabi and Rajasthani gangsters have clashed over control of extortion, smuggling, and money laundering operations.

Earlier this month, a 40-year-old businessman, Ramesh Rulania, was shot dead while exercising at a gym in Rajasthan’s Kuchaman town. Police said the assailant entered the gym around 5:20 a.m. and shot Rulania at close range before escaping. CCTV footage confirmed the gunman’s movements before and after the killing.
Officials suspect Rulania’s murder was connected to an extortion demand from the Rohit Godara gang, which operates across western Rajasthan, including the Didwana and Kuchaman regions. Several local businessmen have reportedly received similar threats demanding protection money.
Gangster Rohit Godara, also known as Rawatram Swami, hails from Lunkaransar in Bikaner district and is currently believed to be hiding abroad. Police describe him as one of Rajasthan’s most dangerous underworld figures, with a sprawling network extending into Punjab, Haryana, and Canada.
Godara has been linked to multiple high-profile killings, including:
-
The December 2022 murder of rival gangster Raju Thehat in Sikar.
-
The May 2022 assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, a crime Godara publicly claimed responsibility for.
-
The December 2023 killing of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, chief of the Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, another killing he allegedly ordered.
Investigators believe Godara’s syndicate operates in close coordination with other criminal networks involved in cross-border arms and drug trafficking. Intelligence officials say his gang’s activities have expanded beyond India, finding safe havens and recruits among diaspora-linked criminal circles in Canada and Australia.
Authorities in both countries are now under pressure to tighten coordination and track the gang’s finances, amid concerns that the India–Canada gang rivalry could spiral further and claim more lives across borders.
