Now that revised IPL 2025 schedule for the remaining season is out, preparations are in full swing to get the tournament started. The BCCI on Monday night announced that the T20 league will resume on May 17 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The league resumes after a break of eight days as it was suspended last week in light of the India-Pakistan conflict. The BCCI had announced that the tournament will be halted for a week but after the announcement of the ceasefire, the board began discussions with the government and stakeholders to start the tournament at the earliest.
Prior to the suspension, a league match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was underway at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Thursday night. After 10.1 overs, the contest was abandoned as part of precautionary measures thanks to the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
Will the PBKS vs DC match resume?
The contest has now been rescheduled to be played on May 24 at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium. However, it will be a fresh contest and not resume from where it was stopped.

After opting to bat first, PBKS had stormed to 122/1 in 10.1 overs with opener Priyansh Arya smashing 34-ball 70 and Prabhsimran Singh unbeaten on 50 off 28. Soon after the dismissal of Arya, the floodlights were switched off and the stadium emptied with the crowd asked to leave the venue as part of safety measures.
The players and support staff of the two teams were then travelled via a special train to New Delhi with the Dharamsala airport shut due to the conflict.
