Pune teen’s grandfather linked to Chhota Rajan

The family  of the 17-year-old teen who is accused of driving over two people in Pune with his Porsche, apparently has an underworld connection. The accused’s grandfather, Surendra Kumar Agarwal, is reportedly standing trial in a shootout case for allegedly making payments to gangster Chhota Rajan.

The youngster, who allegedly drove his Porsche into a motorcycle on Sunday, killing two software engineers in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, Maharashtra, is the son of Vishal Agarwal, a real estate entrepreneur who has since been detained. The child, who was drunk at the time of the accident, was given bail by the Juvenile Justice Board on a bond of Rs 7,500 and a promise from his grandfather to keep him out of bad company, according to the decision.

The event was initially reported to Pune’s Bund Garden police station, where SK Agarwal and Chhota Rajan were charged with murder plot. It is said that SK Agarwal came to Bangkok to meet with Chhota Rajan’s henchman, Vijay Purushottam Salvi, aka Vijay Tambat, in an attempt to resolve the property dispute.

The CBI is investigating all Chhota Rajan-related cases, which have been merged and sent to a special trial court in Mumbai. SK Agarwal’s case from Pune is one of those being tried with Rajan since 2021.

Despite the presence of organized crime figures such as Chhota Rajan and his associates, it has been observed with surprise that the Pune police did not use the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in this case. Investigators believe that substantial errors were made on purpose by the Pune police during the original investigation.

Investigators indicated that SK Agarwal was never arrested prior to the filing of the chargesheet, and the case was lodged under the usual sections of the Indian Penal Code. The charges against him are under different sections of the Indian Penal Code, including criminal conspiracy, attempted murder, and violations of the Arms Act.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
